Textiles Technology

This AQA Design and Technology: Textiles Technology 4570 GCSE specification is divided into two units (with a single tier of entry):

The written paper (carries 40% of the final grade): Consists of one two hour paper with two sections. The first section focuses on design where learners are required to develop a design for a textiles product – the product and theme are determined by AQA. The second section consists of a range of questions which focus on general textiles topics including questions that will stretch and challenge all learners. It is a single tiered assessment, covering grades A* – G to cater for learners of all abilities.

Controlled Assessment (Carries 60% of the final grade): A single design and make activity selected from a choice of set tasks, from AQA, consisting of a completed textiles piece and a concise design folder which demonstrates the learner’s creativity and design skills. In the Controlled Assessment task, learners are encouraged to produce unique and individual outcomes demonstrating a range of textiles skills and techniques.

The last exams for learners taking this current qualification will be in June 2018.
