Term 1 - Christianity - The meaning of Jesus` incarnation for Christians
Term 2 - Sikhism - Beliefs and their affects on lifestyle/ the role of the Gurdwara
Term 3 - Judaism - Visiting a place of worship
Year 8Term 1 - Christianity - Looking for evidence of God
Term 2 - Buddhism - Investigating the life and impact of a religious leader
Term 3 - Christianity - Applying religious teaching to a concept - justice
Assessment at Key Stage 3Pupil’s progress is continually monitored throughout the key stage.The department has clear marking and assessment policies for both class and homework. Pupils also complete assessment tasks during each unit of work. Such tasks are awarded a level of achievement. Pupils target levels and current levels with targets on how to achieve the next level can be found at the front of each pupil’s exercise books.
Year 9 All pupils follow the GCSE short course Edexcel – Religion and Life - Christianity and the study of one other religion, as part of an accelerated learning programme. The course covers:
Year10
The top four groups complete the GCSE Edexcel course. The other two groups take a modular approach comprising of RE, Citizenship and PHSE education. Assessment at Key Stage 4 Pupils are continually monitored and their progress checked over the two years through class and homework. Numerous tests are used to monitor pupil progress and in both Years 9 and 10 pupils take mock exam papers to prepare them for their external exam.
