Overview
 |
|
Learners at KS3 follow a three tier scheme of work to enable them to work at the level suitable for them but also allow for progression.
We encourage learners to apply their skills wherever possible and regularly celebrate both effort and attainment in our subject.
We also encourage learners to assess and monitor their learning and progress to provide a good basis for GCSE.
|
Key Stage 4
Learners study a modular GCSE course which comprises of three units examined over years 10 and 11. We believe that smaller, more manageable units, help learners prepare more successfully for exams and allow for a constant tracking of current achievements.
Year 10: Unit 1 (30%) Unit2 (30%)
Year 11: Unit 3 (40%)
Extra Curricular Activities

We enter the more able learners in Years 7 to 10 in the UK Maths Challenge which takes place in February (Junior) and May (Intermediate).

Year 10 learners compete in the Stock Market Challenge in July every year, learning the workings of a real stock market and the basis for business, decision making and teamwork.
-
We raise awareness of the importance of charity work by taking part in sponsored maths activities for Children in Need and links to other countries through on-line challenges on 'World Maths Day'.
