Novelty Cake Competition 2009

Following a 3-week Design and Make task the Year 10 GCSE Food Technology groups produced their novelty cakes. The competition was judged by John Slattery from Slattery's of Whitefield, who was impressed by the originality of the designs and the quality of the finished cakes.

Prizes awarded included books and chocolate medals donated by Mr Slattery, who made the presentations, and recipe books from the Food Technology Dept. Three cakes were chosen as equal winners with four others as runners up. A number of consolation prizes were also given out.

This is an annual event at Castlebrook, which generates great excitement amongst both pupils and staff, and never fails to surprise with the high standards of novelty cakes produced.
