Tribute from Mr Roberts, Head Teacher

The whole school community is devasted by the tragic death of Molly Dyer - a lovely, brmolly_dyer.jpgight and intelligent young lady who was due to start back in Year 9 on Thursday 2nd September.  Molly had a natural love for school, her attendance and punctuality was outstanding.  She excelled in her studies - particularly enjoying drama and sports, and she made a great contribution to the life of the school.  Indeed Molly was a true ambassador for Castlebrook High School and all it stands for.  She would certainly have gone on to be a senior prefect as she was a positive role model and she had aspirations to become Head Girl.  Molly was well liked by staff and students and she will be dearly missed by all.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and loved ones.

Eulogy by Mr Hewitt

For those of you who do not know me I am Chris Hewitt from Castlebrook High School. I was Molly’s Director of House and I would like to say a few words about Molly on behalf of Castlebrook.

Molly arrived at Castlebrook 2 years ago after having received the outstanding achievement award at Sunnybank primary school and her career at Castlebrook was following a very similar path. Molly was a member of Simpson house, form 7B and she was a shining light from the start of her school career and a much valued member of her form and house.

When collecting my thoughts on what to say today I knew I did not need to dwell on how wonderful a person Molly was, how she was polite, respectful, friendly, because everyone here already knows that Molly had all those qualities and more. So what I wish to convey to everyone here was Molly’s impact at Castlebrook on the staff and pupils and how much she was loved, respected and will be ultimately missed.

When I started to read through Molly’s school reports I realised that everything that needed to be said was already written in those reports. The comments made by her teachers tell the story of Molly’s time at Castlebrook, the effect that she had on those people who had the pleasure of teaching her and on her peers.  I would like to share a selection of these comments from those reports with you.
  • Molly is a very pleasant young lady who displays a positive attitude towards school. Her work is always completed to a very high standard.
  • Molly is a very mature and pleasant member of the group who is a pleasure to teach. Molly’s attitude to learning is consistently positive; she makes excellent verbal contributions to lessons and has excellent organisational skills.
  • Molly has an excellent relationship with her peers in class and supports those around her. This has been simply an outstanding year. Well done.

I could go on repeating comment after comment of praise from all of her subject teachers but I think how she was regarded by all staff can be best summarised by her pastoral reports.

  •  Molly is a wonderful pupil with a mature attitude. She attempts to do the best that she can in all aspects of her school life. Molly has had a really positive and productive year where she has exceeded all target grades; she also leads the form in reward merits.
And finally.
  •  Molly displays a very sensible and mature attitude towards school she is always polite and respectful towards staff and her peers. Molly is an outstanding member of Simpson house and Castlebrook high school and has made a fantastic start to her school career.
Molly was a shining light at Castlebrook, who would not only have gone on to achieve high academic standards but would also have contributed to school life in a full and positive way, and I am in no doubt that she would have been chosen to be a senior prefect if not Head Girl. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the light at Castlebrook will be a little dimmer from now on.

Goodbye Molly and God Bless.
